When we pray to God, we must pray from our heart; and not just the mind. We must tell Him what we feel; and not what we think He wants us to say. During this time with God, we should be as completely sincere with Him as we can be. Trust that He already knows what it is we are thinking and going to ask of Him, and know that He will answer our prayers in the best possible way.

It is only when we put our heart behind the words we speak that we give power to our thoughts. Without feeling and sincerity, our prayers are lacking in power and efficiency. If we don’t make this a sacred time and enter into it with a feeling of devotion, then there is no way for our prayers to attract a response.

If for any reason you feel that you are lacking in such things simply pray to God and ask Him:

“Lord, help me to love you more deeply & with more feeling.”

If your mind can’t stay focused and wanders during prayer, or if your heart is restless, simply pray:

“Lord, I desire nothing but You! Help me to still my mind and calm my mind in Your peace.”

These are the types of prayers that God loves the most. These are the types of prayers that show Him where our heart is at. For, God’s only wish is that we love Him for Him alone; and not anything that He can give us. It is alright to pray to God for things, but it is better to pray for the knowledge or experience of Him. God knows exactly what we need, and if we pray that His will be done in our lives, then He will do greater things for us than we can ever imagine.

Remember that you are God’s child, and therefore, pray with complete confidence that He is hearing you. Pray from your heart with deep feeling & intensity; seeking God only for His love. Let Him know that He truly is all you want. If you continuously pray to God in such a way, you will come to the realization that He is with you always.
